Use of the subscription services

We can create and share marketing, sales, and customer service content thanks to our online subscription service. The information entered into the subscription services by site visitors who provide their contact information is stored and managed on the servers of our service providers.
Subscription services are used to build websites where users can learn more about Secom and use the services it offers. This Privacy Policy governs how we collect, disclose, and secure information collected and managed through our subscription services.

Information we collect

Personal information
This includes contact information such as your name, e-mail address, company name, address, phone number, and other information about yourself or your business that you freely submit to us and that identifies you personally. Personal Information can also include information about any free or paid transactions you make on the websites, as well as information about you that is publicly available on the internet, such as from Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google, or publicly available information we obtain from service providers.

You are free to explore the Secom websites without providing any personal information about yourself. When you visit the websites or register for the subscription services, we request that you provide personal information about yourself, and we collect navigational information.

From time to time, we may receive personal information about you from third party sources including partners with which we offer co-branded services or engage in joint marketing activities, and publicly available sources such as social media websites.

Information about children
The websites are not intended for or targeted at children under 18, and we do not knowingly or intentionally collect information about children under 18. Files containing logs
We may collect information about your computer hardware and software when you use our services or view content provided by us. Your IP address, browser type, domain names, internet service provider, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, clickstream data, access times, and referring website addresses are examples of this information. Secom uses this information to operate the subscription services, maintain the quality of the subscription services, and provide general statistics about the use of the Secom websites. We do link this automatically collected data to personal information such as name, email address, address, and phone number for these purposes.

Our website includes social media features like the Facebook Like button, as well as widgets like the Share This button and interactive mini-programs that run on our sites. We provide message boards, blogs, and community forums that are open to the public. Please keep in mind that any information you directly disclose on our public message boards, blogs, or forums may be collected and used by others. If you request it in writing, we will correct or delete any information you have posted on the website.

Retention of personal information
The length of time we keep information about you depends on the type of information, which is described in more detail below. After that period of time, we will either delete or anonymize your information, or if this is not possible, we will securely store your information and isolate it from further use until deletion is possible.

We keep information about your marketing preferences for a reasonable period of time after you last expressed interest in our content, products, or services, such as when you last opened an email from us or stopped using your Secom account, if you have elected to receive marketing communications from us. We keep information gathered through cookies and other tracking technologies for a fair amount of time after it was collected.

How we share information we collect

Service providers
We utilize other organizations and people to offer services and we may need to share your information with them in order to provide you with information, products, or services. In addition, we may share data with service providers or partners to contact you based on your request to receive such communications, help us perform statistical analysis, or provide customer support.  Examples include removing repetitive information from prospect lists, analyzing data or performing statistical analysis, assisting with marketing, processing credit card payments, supplementing the information you provide us in order to provide you with better service, and providing customer service or support. 

You agree and acknowledge that your personal information may be processed, held and stored by the service providers, at their respective premises in their respective countries, and that such personal information may be subject to the laws and regulations of these countries and that the personal information, once it is disclosed to and processed by the service providers, may no longer be protected by data protection standards applicable to Secom, but may be subject to data protection standards applicable to the relevant service provider 

Corporate events
If we (or our assets) are acquired by another company, whether by merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or otherwise, that company would receive all information gathered by Secom on the websites and the subscription services. In this event, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our website, of any change in ownership, uses of your personal information, and choices you may have regarding your personal information.

Compelled disclosure
We reserve the right to use or disclose your personal information if required by law or authorities or if we reasonably believe that use or disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or comply with a law, court order, or legal process.

Reviewing, correcting and removing your personal information
You have the following data protection rights:

  • You can object to processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict processing of your personal information, or request portability of your personal information.
  • If we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent, then you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

Anti-spam policy
Our email service and marketing service providers' acceptable user policies, as well as this privacy policy, prohibit sending unsolicited commercial email in violation of applicable laws and require the inclusion of a "opt-out" mechanism and other required information in every email sent using the subscription services.

Jurisdiction and governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by Swiss law and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, Switzerland
